Cocamidopropylamine Oxide (CAO) is a kind of amphoteric surfactant with great solubility in water and polar organic solutions, when in the acid condition it becomes cationic while in alkali condition it turns into nonionic. It performs well in thickening, softening, antistatic, foaming, and cleaning. It is mild and low stimulation to skin and hair with good sterilization and biodegradability. Also when added it can reduce the stimulation of other surfactants in some detergents. It is compatible with anionic, cationic, amphoteric, and nonionic surfactants.
